On Friday 27th September, Deer Park had a very special guest. Olympian Jacob Whittle visited school to talk to all the children and staff about his journey from studying at Tupton Secondary to swimming and representing Great Britain in two Olympic Games - his first being when he was only 16 years old!
Jacob was incredibly inspiring and the children quizzed him about his training schedule and what life was like as an elite swimmer.
Jacob was a great role model and really made all the children believe that they could achieve anything within PE and Sport if they gave their best!
Thank you Jacob and come back soon with that Olympic Gold!

On Monday 11th November we held a remembrance service at school to honour the service men and women who have made, and continue to make sacrifices for us. It was a beautiful service and we were honoured to be joined by our Deer Friends groups. One gentleman was 99 years of age and was a Second World War Commander...his stories were fascinating. Four of our children went to the Parish Rooms to represent our school and lay a wreath.
Our Reception children have done a fabulous job of making our tree decorations for the Tree Festival this year. A huge thank you to Mrs Ruff for helping us to decorate it, it looks brilliant.
On 28th and 29th November 2024 our Year 5 children enjoyed a Viking themed residential to Mount Cook. The children were excellent. They took part in everything with such enthusiasm and their team work and the support they gave each other over the two days, was amazing to see.
On 6th December 2024, our Year 5 children completed Level 1 Bikeability. They learnt some important key skills, needed when riding a bike, including the importance of good observational skills.
