Never, Never, Never Give Up!

STarting school magic...

We Love to explore outside!

In Reception we love to be outdoors. We love exploring the nature garden, building obstacle courses and digging in the sand! We are trying really hard to be independent when putting on our wellies, coats and waterproofs! We have even been helping our friends zip up their coats! Great teamwork!

Celebrations

During the first week back we have been learning about Bonfire night and Diwali!

This is what we now know about the festival of light 'Diwali'...
Ailani - 'They put candles around their homes'.
Carter - 'They have fireworks'.
Tristan - 'They eat special food with their family'.
Joy -'They put Happy Diwali banners on their doors'

Wonderful Weather

This half term we have learning about the weather. We went on a winter walk around school to spot the signs of Winter. We found snow, ice, frost, berries and frozen cobwebs.
We have also been learning about where in the world we can find polar bears and penguins. We used google maps to find where we live and where polar bears and penguins live.

Chinese and lunar new year

This week we are learning about the celebration Chinese and Lunar New Year. This year is the year of the snake!

How can we help birds during the winter?

During this half term we have been learning how different animals survive during the winter months. This week we are taking part in the Big School Bird Watch. We have been learning about the different birds we might find in our school grounds. We have made bird feeders to encourage birds to come and visit us! I wonder what birds you can spot when you are at home?

Design and technology

In Year 1 we have designed and made a moving drawbridge. We tested different materials to see how strong they were. We used this information to design and make our own drawbridges. The drawbridge opens and closes when twisting the straw! Great work Year 1!

Search for a Hero!

This half term we are learning about people that help us within our community. We have had some special visitors to school to tell us all about their jobs and how they help people. We have been busy creating our own emergency vehicles outside and designing our own emergency vehicles - ready to make using junk modelling!

World book day!

Firefighter visit

Easter time!

We have enjoyed lots of Easter activities the last week of term. We even went on a Easter egg hunt. We found the tricky word eggs and once we had found them all we could go on the search for chocolate eggs.

VE DAY

What a lovely day we have had whilst learning about why today is such a special day! The children's outfits were fabulous! Our favourite part of the day was having picnic lunch outside and flying our paper aeroplanes!

Growing!

This half term we have learnt about mini-beasts, how caterpillars turn to butterflies and what happens to a seed when it is planted. We have loved watching the changes that have been taking place with our caterpillars and seeds. The children have really enjoyed retelling the story 'Jack and the Beanstalk' too and the children have created some fabulous beanstalks!

KinDness festival

We have had a fun filled day with lots of acts of kindness. We started the day by making kindness fairies and we then created stories about them. We have worked with Year 4 children, making a kindness paper chain together. We enjoyed a picnic lunch together and we have played games with our friends.

Drumba!

Cannon HaLL Farm

We have had such a wonderful day at Cannon Hall Farm. The children have been a real credit to us and have behaved brilliantly! We started our day with a tour around the farm with farmer Jacob. We saw some tiny piglets that were two days old! We had chance to feed the animals and look at a wide range of farm animals. We then enjoyed our picnic lunch together. We then went into Reptile and Mammal barns and we saw some interesting animals! We watched a ferret race and we loved exploring on the park! What a super, fun-filled day we have had!
