The teacher in this class is Miss Cole and the Teaching Assistant in this class is Mrs Jessup Monday-Thursday morning and Mr Kirsopp Friday morning. Mrs Morris covers Miss Cole's non-contact time each week.

Autumn 2Art and DesignThe children had another busy term. In art they learnt the basic principles of printing. They experimented with everyday objects to print with. They learnt about the artist Orla Kiely who is famous for being an artist who uses printing in her work. They also learnt about Brianna McCarthy and collage. The children created their own imaginary face collage by layering paper.

Geography
The children drew and located the four countries of the UK using maps. They named the capital cities and the surrounding seas on a UK map or atlas.
They explored using a compass using the four main compass directions when describing places in relation to each other.

Maths
In Maths the children used numberlines to find 1 more and 1 less. They also used the number lines for addition and subtraction and to find the difference.
Science - Everyday materials
The children did an experiment to test different materials to find out if they are waterproof.
Christmas
The children performed on the stage to tell the story of Ralf the Reindeer. They sang their hearts out on the stage and the narrators all said their lines with confidence and expression.
They enjoyed party afternoon with a sing a long, pass the parcel, a disco and Christmas colouring.

We are sharing the book 'Wolves' by Emily Gravett. The children are learning lots of facts about grey wolves. They have been to the library to find both fiction and non-fiction books. We have sorted the books into fact and fiction and written fact sentences from our research.

We have shared religious and non-religious stories and found the deeper meanings from each and discussed how these stories help people to make the right decisions of how to be kind to others, animals and the world.
The children have looked at the beautiful text in the Quran. |
PSHE
We have talked about the very special people in our lives and what it is that makes them special.
After sharing who are VIP people are and naming our family members, the children have discussed how to resolve conflict. We talked about strategies to help calm yourself down before talking to the person who you are having a disagreement with. The children then drew the different techniques they would use.
