Paul Addison Co-Chair of Governors Term of Office - 25th March 2024 - 24th March 2028 Member of: Teaching and Learning Committee, Finance Committee, Headteacher Performance Management Committee and Pay Committee We moved to Wingerworth from Nuneaton seven years ago. We have six grandchildren and two dogs. I am a member of Matlock Golf Club, Warwickshire Bar Football Club and and Clay Cross Model Railway Group. I support Nuneaton Town Football Club and also enjoy watching Chesterfield play. I taught History for thirty four years becoming Head of History at Polesworth in 1987. I also became ICT Co-Ordinator and Director of Learning (Assistant Head). Having spent many years as a GCSE History examiner I eventually became a Chief Examiner for GCSE History. Hopefully my educational experience will prove useful for the pupils and staff at Deer Park School. Ben Bentley Co-Chair of Governors Term of Office - 23rd May 2023 - 22nd May 2027 Member of: Teaching and Learning Committee, Finance Committee I was elected as a Parent Governor in 2017 and am privileged to lead the amazing team of governors we have at Deer Park. Derbyshire is my home from childhood and I enjoy living around the corner from the school with our two children who attend the school. Professionally I work as a barrister representing public bodies including the Department for Education and the NHS in courts across the UK. Extra-curricular pursuits include summiting Kilimanjaro in 2019 (ably accompanied by the DPPS school monkey) and advocating on behalf of modern day anti-slavery charity, Hope for Justice. |
Paul Bradley Vice Chair Co-opted Governor Term of Office - 9th December 2020 - 8th December 2024 Member of: Finance Committee, Headteacher Performance Management Committee, Pay Committee and Premises Committee After 28 years of working in the coal mining industry as a senior mechanical engineer, I joined the Health & Safety Executive in 2008 as one of HM Principal Inspectors of Mechanical Engineering. Regulating within the Major Accident Hazard Sector of the UK’s Energy Division as an Operations Manager. Serving on the governing body at Deer Park Primary School as both a Parent and Co-opted Governor since 2006. Currently, I am Vice Chair and a member of the Finance, Pay Policy and Head Teacher’s Performance Management committees. |
Annette Lupton Headteacher I have lived in Derbyshire all of my life, briefly residing in Northamptonshire where I went to university. I began my teaching career as an Early Years teacher and since then, have taught every year group up to Year 6. I have been a Derbyshire Headteacher for 8 years having been a Deputy for 8 years previously. I am married and have a son of primary school age. I also share my home with 3 cats; called Wilson, Boo and Simba and a very daft black Labrador called Murphy! In my down time, you will find me exploring Derbyshire with my four-legged friend, spending time with my family and friends and turning my hand to anything creative! I bring to Deer Park a passion for improving outcomes for all children; academically, socially, and emotionally and I want to build on the strong culture of mutual respect, where children can learn from their mistakes, take risks and develop friendships. Above all, I will promote a caring and inclusive ethos which develops children's self-belief, kindness, resilience and confidence. It is an absolute privilege to be leading such a fantastic school and supportive community and I will ensure that every child receives the very best education and leaves Deer Park Primary School fully equipped and with high aspirations for their future, no matter what their starting points. |
Liz Grosse Chair of Finance & Personnel Committee English Link Governor Co-opted Governor Term of Office - 23rd May 2023- 22nd May 2027 Member of: Finance Committee I was born in Derbyshire and worked in the Financial Services industry for many years as a Financial Adviser advising on a range of products including long-term investments, retirement and inheritance tax planning as well as rolling out Stakeholder Pensions into the corporate sector. I travelled with work and lived in Glasgow, Newcastle and then Norwich before settling back home in Wingerworth with my husband and two daughters, who have both attended Deer Park Primary School. I now work as an Estate Planning Consultant providing services which include Will Writing, Trusts and Power of Attorney. I was elected to the Governing Board in 2017 and am a member of the Finance, Personnel committee. I am committed to ensuring that Deer Park Primary School continues to provide the best possible education and opportunities to all the children. |
Nick Knowles Chair of Premises, Health & Safety Committee Co-opted Governor Term of Office - 9th December 2020 - 8th December 2024 Member of: Premises Committee Born in Wingerworth, and resident in the village ever since, I’m a former pupil of Deer Park. I’m married with three children who all attended Deer Park and Tupton Hall Schools. My eldest daughter graduated with a first class honours degree in Mathematics from the University of Essex in 2014, my younger daughter will be sitting her finals in International Wildlife Biology at the University of South Wales in Spring 2017 and my son is due to complete his ‘A’ levels at the same time. I’ve worked in various sections of the Highways department at Derbyshire County Council since leaving school. I’ve formally managed junior football teams for WJSA from U7’s to U16’s and had the pleasure of accompanying Deer Park’s Year 5 and 6 pupils on all of their residential trips over a seven year period from 2004 to 2010. The latter led to me being invited to join the Governing Body in 2006 where I’ve held the role of Chair of Premises, Health and Safety since 2009. I’m keen to see that present and future pupils are given the best possible opportunities to fulfil their educational potential in an environment where they feel both happy and safe like so many of the thousands who have gone through the school before them. |
Sue Saunders Chair of Teaching & Learning Committee Data Protection Governor Maths Link Governor Co-Opted Governor Term of Office - 27th September 2021 - 26th September 2025 Member of: Teaching ad Learning Committee and Finance Committee I was elected to the Governing Board in 2019 and I am currently Chair of the Teaching & Learning Committee and Vice Chair of the Finance & Personnel Committee. I have lived in Chesterfield for over 20 years, my husband and I were married in Wingerworth, I have two sons who have both attended Deer Park Primary School. I have worked in the education sector for over 23 years and I am a qualified ACMA accountant and work as Assistant Principal in a Further Education College. During my career in education I have had experience of strategic planning, financial management, funding, management information, ICT, data analysis and data protection. My role involves working with a range of external stakeholders such as Department for Education, Ofsted, Further Education Commission, employers, community groups and students. I am committed to ensuring all children at the school are given the best opportunities to maximise their potential and develop both academically and personally. |

Laura Stopps Safeguarding, Anti-Bullying, LAC and Well-Being Governor Phonics and Early Reading Link Governor Parent Governor Term of Office - 17th February 2022 - 16th February 2026 Member of: Finance Committee and Safeguarding Committee I was elected parent governor in December 2021 because I wanted to be able to contribute something to Deer Park where my two children are pupils in the junior school. I have worked in schools for over 20 years as a paediatric physiotherapist so I have a keen interest in inclusion and ensuring that all children achieve their full potential. I have lived in Wingerworth for 18 years and over that time I have voluntarily run one of the parent and toddler groups in the village and been involved in the Friends of Wingerworth Parks group. In my limited spare time I enjoy reading and gardening and I am just learning to sew inspired by The Great British Sewing Bee! |
Joanne Lee Maths Link Governor, SEND Link Governor Co-opted Governor Term of Office - 2nd September 2021 - 3rd September 2025 Member of: Teaching and Learning Committee, Headteacher Performance Management Committee and Pay Committee I've worked in education since 2006 having trained formally as a primary teacher in Leicester. I moved to secondary shortly afterwards working in a behaviour improvement centre. I've was a SENDCo for 10 years at Tibshelf Community School then moved to the health related education team for Notts County Council to provide education for students out of school for mental health and medical reasons. I am now the lead for North Nottinghamshire Health Related Education Team providing advice, guidance and support to schools around children with mental health and medical needs. |
Candy Marsh Co-opted Governor Term of Office - 25th March 2024 - 24th March 2028 Member of: Teaching and Learning Committee I have lived in Wingerworth most of my life and I love the village. I have worked in education for over 20 years in different roles and in a variety of sectors. This includes being an early years practitioner, primary teacher, family support worker and university lecturer. I currently work in adult and community learning, but remain passionate about primary education. I am thrilled to be a governor at Deer Park Primary School and I am looking forward to working with and supporting the children, staff and families of Deer Park. Jo Richardson Safeguarding, Anti-Bullying, LAC and Well-Being Governor Local Authority Governor Term of Office - 25th March 2024 - 24th March 2028 Member of: Safeguarding Committee and Premises Committee I have lived in Wingerworth for 37 yrs.I have 2 grandchildren at Deer Park and I can often be seen in the playground collecting them. My background is 25 years of working with children and young people as a youth worker for DCC and various roles with Children's Social Care, Action for Children and Barnardos. This was all within a safeguarding environment. I currently work for the NEDDC managing their temporary homeless units and delivering safeguarding training to staff across the organisation. I have been a school governor before for both secondary and primary schools. I am looking forward to making a contribution to the Deer Park school community and its governing body.
