Our school |
We are situated in a very attractive rural setting in the village of Wingerworth just 3 miles south west of Chesterfield, 8 miles from the motorway and just 2 miles from the Peak District National Park. It is an ideal place to bring up a family.
The school overlooks the park with its fishing ponds, cricket pitch, tennis courts and play park on one side and the rolling Derbyshire hills on the other. Classrooms are light and airy providing inspirational views. |
HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
The school was officially opened in 1960. In September 1965 an extension was built following a steady rise in numbers and this was soon followed by the addition of terrapin classrooms. In 1999 these wooden terrapin classrooms were demolished and replaced by a new block containing four permanent classrooms and an entrance hall. In 2003 a music room was built to allow instrumental teaching to take place.
Deer Park Primary School has a very successful record in enabling the 347 children here to achieve their full potential. This is reflected in the high academic achievements at the end of each key stage. We offer a broad curriculum and currently hold the Derbyshire Music Quality Award and the Active Sports Mark. At our OFSTED monitoring inspection in January 2018 all areas were judged as good.
